A new place where the Future of Beauty comes to life.

A widely praised collective success.

We knew Factory would bring a different way of thinking. Today, we have a space that lives up to our ambitions and our image innovative, inspiring to work in, and carefully designed so that everyone can thrive and together we can shape the future of beauty.

Barbara Lavernos-Dupuis
Deputy CEO of the L’Oréal Group.

Designed for all, tailored to each.

“At L’Oréal, we believe technology can push the boundaries of what is possible, help us improve the lives of consumers around the world, and respond to the infinite diversity of beauty needs and aspirations.” This vision, expressed by Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal, perfectly captures the Group’s ambition: to make technology a powerful driver of personalization, inclusion, and innovation in service of the beauty of tomorrow. Far from being just another division, Beauty Tech at L’Oréal lies at the very heart of the Group’s strategy, as it aims to move from beauty for all to beauty for each individual. It is a key pillar of L’Oréal’s future both a strategic engine and a technological showcase for the Group.

To bring this ambition to life, it required far more than a simple move. It meant designing a space that truly reflects Beauty Tech: designed for everyone, tailored to each individual. It also meant integrating eco-design levers from the outset, without compromising either comfort or the level of services expected by users. This is precisely the spirit of our “Future at Work” approach and of the partnership we built with Hyloh, a global consulting firm specializing in sustainable materials, eco-design, and circularity.

Unite and equip teams around the brand DNA as a guiding thread.

L'Oréal Beauty Tech needed to bring together teams previously spread across three undersized sites into a new location of more than 19,000 sqm. This was therefore a strategic move with a dual objective: to provide more space while anticipating workforce growth (2,400 employees in the long term, with 1,254 physical workstations a 0.7 flex ratio), and to deploy a full range of alternative workspaces in order to effectively support project teams. Alongside this operational challenge, there was also an important brand image dimension: the offices needed to reflect the forward-looking mission of this entity. In other words, the ambition was clear to embody the future of beauty through the spaces themselves.

Drawing inspiration from the Group’s DNA, we developed a narrative thread built around the duality embedded in the very expression “Beauty Tech.” On one side, beauty and care are evoked through carefully curated greenery and a palette of warm tones reserved for collaborative workspaces. On the other, technology and modernity are expressed through a deliberate use of black and white, along with large-scale brand visuals that punctuate and structure the spaces. To create a link between these two worlds, we introduced a new spatial marker: the Brand Tunnel. A strong architectural feature, the Brand Tunnel acts as a visual backbone serving simultaneously as a passageway, a partition, and a point of orientation within the space.

Spaces designed for a diversity of uses.

To support the diverse needs of Beauty Tech teams, we created agile, accessible spaces that are easy to adapt and make one’s own.

Individual workstations are complemented by a wide range of meeting rooms, offering configurations suited to every format of collaboration. Integrated directly at the heart of the office floors, these rooms ensure smooth usability and immediate proximity to everyday work areas. This logic of adaptability also extends to the design of the workstations themselves. We deliberately diversified the typologies to encourage flexible use: fixed desks, mobile seating, phone boxes, informal lounges… Each employee can choose the environment that best suits the task at hand. The furniture was also selected according to the time spent and the nature of the activity: more ergonomic for long work sessions, and more convivial in circulation areas or spaces dedicated to relaxation.

We also chose to dedicate the 7th floor entirely to collaborative spaces: a serviced coffee shop, a modular event area, and a relaxation space equipped for project presentations, team-building moments, product launches, and more. It is also where the “Recharge” space is located a place designed for individual well-being sessions, featuring high-tech equipment. All these arrangements respond to a very specific requirement from the project team: to offer experiences that are meaningful, useful, and inspiring. On every floor, we also introduced work cafés designed for coffee breaks and more informal exchanges. Here, people can sit down with a laptop for an hour, have a quick standing discussion in front of a screen, or hold an impromptu meeting. Natural elements and raw materials such as wood and greenery help create an atmosphere that encourages conversation and interaction.

Beauty Tech: L’Oréal’s flagship CSR project.

The CSR dimension was integrated from the very beginning, with a major ambition: to use this project as the pilot for L’Oréal’s new CSR approach. In collaboration with our partner Hyloh, we implemented a two-part strategy.

Hyloh first conducted a highly detailed carbon impact analysis, examining every aspect of the fit-out from floor to ceiling including interior installations, furniture, and technical equipment. This support enabled us to select the right suppliers and to assess the environmental cost of all the materials used in the project. The objective was to choose alternative solutions whenever possible in order to reduce our overall impact. In particular, the decision to prioritize reuse proved highly effective in significantly lowering the project’s carbon footprint.

Together with Hyloh, we also worked on developing a scorecard tailored specifically for L'Oréal, designed to identify and track all the elements required to deliver a successful project both for the planet and for the teams. The ambition was to make the Beauty Tech project the pilot for a well-designed and well-managed approach to workplace development. We are particularly proud to have been able, thanks to Hyloh, to build a robust methodology for the Group. This was one of the project’s key challenges and an experience that ultimately helped us grow and strengthen our capabilities.

A Source of Pride

The pride one takes in a project is always proportional to the challenges it represents. And on this project, we faced an unprecedented level of requirements for a space of this scale.

Integrating eco-design levers without compromising the design, keeping budgets under control without diluting the project’s ambition, addressing an extremely wide range of technical challenges from air conditioning and acoustics to building management systems and thermal comfort all while meeting tight deadlines. These were just some of the challenges we successfully addressed thanks to the outstanding collaboration between our teams and those of L'Oréal.

A collective success, also praised by Barbara Lavernos, Deputy CEO of the L’Oréal Group:

“We knew Factory would think differently. We now have a space that truly reflects our ambitions and our image innovative, enjoyable to work in, and above all thoughtfully designed so that everyone can thrive and together we can shape the future of beauty.”

A sentiment shared by the Factory team, including Marine Gallet, Project Manager:

“Delivering a project of this scale in just five months was a real challenge. But we never compromised on ambition or on the details, turning this time constraint into a true driver of excellence.”

We are immensely proud to have delivered this project.

Because it reflects who we are. And because it clearly and ambitiously expresses what the future of work can be.
